Our Story

Bonnie Sprague, ARNP, has been providing medical care for the residents of Whatcom County for many years.  Most of those years were spent in primary care.  In 2017 Bonnie earned her IFMCP board certification in Functional Medicine and shifted her business, Bellingham Health, toward practicing in this new way.

Functional Medicine is “root cause” medicine.  The patient and provider work together to understand why the patient feels poorly, then apply Functional Medicine tools and treatments to support the healing process.  Functional Medicine effectively treats low thyroid, autoimmune conditions, inflammatory conditions, cholesterol, weight, stress, fatigue, and more.  The list is long.

Bonnie also provides Women’s Health.  She does regular exams and treats multiple women’s issues, including peri-menopause and post-menopause.  She works with complex hormonal issues such as polycystic ovary syndrome, PMS, and pelvic discomfort.  Bonnie uses her Functional Medicine training to assess and treat many conditions, from fatigue and hot flashes to insomnia.

In 2020, Bonnie semi-retired and now sees patients three days a week.  She enjoys helping her patients find personalized health solutions that are often elusive in today’s fast-paced primary care.
